Linking/Syncing status

Could you add that to my account looks like what we are waiting for

I would like this automation as well.

could you add this to my account as well please

Hey Julia! I would love to be able to test this feature. Can you activate it for us as wel? Thanks!

@Julia-monday.com - Is there a version of this that occurs once a status is changed? For example we have a bunch of clients that require specific tasks. Once a task on one board is switched to a status we would like to have a copy of it made on one centralized board that shares a status column.

That way we can have all tasks of one type on a central board.

yes, we require the same!

Hi all

This has now been released to everyone so should automatically appear in the automations centre!

Any chance on the variant that is driven by status?

Just chiming in – I could also really benefit from having an automation where a status change on an item in board A triggers an identical status change on board B.

A similar automation that does the reverse would be great. One that creates the link on the second board rather than on the original would help us out a lot. We are currently manually linking secondary boards to a main one. Probably our biggest pain point so far with the product and the number 1 thing preventing us from expanding monday company wide.

Can we keep this thread up for the variant request?

Us as well! One of the Monday.com support members told me as far as they know there is no plan on adding this.

Very disappointing if true.

It seems odd and I can’t really wrap my head around the current automation. It seems completely backwards to me.

If I am using a main or master board why would I want to add an item to another board and then have mirrors from that board on my master board. I’d want the mirror columns on the sub board and not on the master or main board. It is backwards in the hierarchy of the boards.

Agreed! I believe their reasoning is to avoid becoming a database platform. When you add two way sync, in theory, Monday.com would become become a relational database. I’m sure this would bring an influx of bugs and user questions that they are not ready to handle. I this is why, I can understand why hold off.

This makes so much sense and unfortunately, is exactly what my teams needs :frowning:

In my view, this is not an issue, it is an opportunity for Monday. The customer can choose the way of use… I am corssing fingers to see that feature soon! xD

Hi All,

Are you looking to sync a status of a single item across two boards? That is not possible in monday.com but if I understand the exact requirement I can probably build something. I also build master - detail relationship recipes for reporting and these could probably be extended. See also the app annaouncement here Monday app with automations released - #4 by basdebruin

We would love to have this functionality (updating a status in one board updates the status of a linked item in another board). Can you please let me know what would be required to move forward?

Hi @JustinJ, is it possible to enable this beta feature in my boards too. It would be really helpful! Thank you very much!
