Is there a way to flag a milestone on a task within a board? The goal would be to present a Gantt or calendar view showing only those tasks marked as milestones.

You could create a column labeled Milestone and then create a filtered Gantt view to accomplish this.
I would use a checkbox column, and only check the items that are milestones. Then create a new board view → Select Gantt → Filter (switch to advanced filters) → When milestone is checked (screenshot below) → Save to this view
