Hi There, Im currently trying to create a summary dashboard from 2 different boards. Now on the original boards I have used the ‘show summary on parent item’ to tally up values. I have then mirrored these values and these appears in the ‘main table’ however when I go to create a graph/chart the values appear as zero?
Am I missing something or is this not yet a possibility?
I should also add that I have mirrored other items (which are not summaries) which are woking totally fine in my graphs.
Hey @Renee1! Just to clarify, that mirrored subitem data (into the parent item) is then being mirrored into another board - correct? Are you then creating a dashboard view within that board? Or are you setting up a new dashboard all together and connecting the 2 boards?
Hey @BiancaT
that mirrored subitem data (into the parent item) is then being mirrored into another board - correct - Yes
Are you then creating a dashboard view within that board? Or are you setting up a new dashboard all together and connecting the 2 boards?
A little more context which I hope will help clarify… So I’ve got an AU board & a UK board (both have subitems into parent items & both have summary dashboards) I have then set up a new board to mirror those parent items from the AU & UK boards to give a ‘total summary’. I have then set up the dashboard exactly the same as the AU & UK to give the next level up summary - however this is where my parent items summaries are not appearing in the graphs.
I hope that helps?! Thank you!!
Hey @BiancaT Any thoughts on my challenge?
My sincerest apologies Renee - I completely missed your reply here!
I have just set something similar up on my end and haven’t run into the same issue. I was successfully able to pull that mirrored data into the X axis of the chart. As you can see in my screenshot, I am able to select the summary data.
It sounds like this might potentially be a bug specific to the account that our support team might need to investigate Before I advise reaching out to support@monday.com, if you can provide a screenshot of what that new board looks like (which pulls the parent items from AU + UK board) and also what the chart widget looks like that is not displaying the mirrored data this might provide some additional background which could give me a better idea of what is happening on your end!
Hi Bianca,
Please see screen shot of the board.
And screens hot of the charts - As you can see only the ‘qty’s’ are populating.
Thanks
Renee
Thanks Renee! Given this is becoming more technical, I’ve sent you a private message so I can gather some details about the chart settings.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Hi Bianca, I feel like I’m running into a very similar issue myself.
I have a board which is bringing in a mirrored column, which contains summed data from sub-items. The graph of this then shows zero.
I wondered if you were able to solve this?
Here’s a simple version I made to demonstrate.
many people face this issue right now.
Hey Toby,
Thanks for flagging this
Can you please confirm how many levels the data is being mirrored across? I ask this, as 3 level mirroring is not currently supported I am afraid.
Hi Bianca,
This is using a combination of mirroring and sub-item totals.
First table:
- parent item 1 - contains sum of subitem values (123+345 = 468)
- subitem 1: 123
- subitem 2: 345
- parent item 2 - contains sum of subitem values (678+9 = 687)
- subitem 3: 678
- subitem 4: 9
Second table:
- Connects first table.
- Each Item is linked to multiple items from first table.
- Each Item displays summed value of the totals
- eg. Item is linked to both items from first table, and displays the sum of 468 and 687
The funny thing here is that it seems to work fine in the table view, but it’s just the graph that shows a zero.
Thank you for your patience with me Toby as I clarified expected behaviour with our internal team.
On that note, they have confirmed that this functionality will soon be supported as we roll out our updated dashboard engine - currently in gradual release. I am waiting on confirmation of full release and will let you know once it’s been shared with me
