Moving a group using automations

Is there a way to move groups using automations? If not, is this something that may be available in future?

I have an automation that moves an item to the ‘top group’ once a date has passed. The problem is that the top group is only relevant for the year and I will then need to manually create another group for the next years lot of items to move to.

Ideally, a group could be generated each year and automatically moved to the top. Are there any group level automations?

@tiagarmonsway You can automatically create a group on a recurring/time period basis. I think this automation would work for your case.

There is not an automation to move an existing group to the top. But you can change group orders using the API or a tool like zapier/make.

Here are the steps on how to create this automation:

  1. Go to the Automations Center.
  2. Click on the “Create Automation” button.
  3. Select the “When a date arrives” trigger.
  4. Enter the date that you want the automation to be triggered on.
  5. Select the “Move items to group” action.
  6. Select the group that you want to move the items to.
  7. Select the items that you want to move.
  8. Click on the “Create Automation” button.

This automation will create a new group each year, and then move all of the items from the previous year’s group to the new group.
