Multiple status groups on one board

I am looking for a way to have different status group options within one board.

Currently I use Wrike and my company is asking everyone to migrate to Monday. I am finding it lacks some of the features I’m used to, one of which is the ability to have multiple defined status groups so that within one project, I’m able to use the status group that makes the most sense for each task.

For example, one task might be a simple “Not Started, In Progress, Done” while others might have status options that are more specific like “In Development, Reviewing, Revising, Approved, Rejected.”

How can I achieve this in Monday?

Hi @ashleyc7 - Welcome to the community! It does take a bit to get into the “monday mindset” of how things can be organized and structured. When you have two very different types of ways that a task can be tracked or categorized, this is usually done by having multiple status columns. I’d be happy to chat with you about your specific use case and Wrike migration challenges. We offer a limited number of no-charge strategy sessions in the community each week. Hey @ashleyc7 ~ Welcome to the Community!

As @PolishedGeek mentioned, you can absolutely add either multiple status labels or Status Columns to achieve the different labels you need for each project/task!

You can check out these resources to help you get to know more about our Project management capabilities:

You can also save time and download pre-made templates directly into your account by going to your Template Store and searching for “Project Management”.

If you want to have different columns per group on a board, then this won’t be possible.

We want to make sure that your boards are coherent for your team members, as well as allow for the easy dragging and dropping of items between groups. Therefore, we currently require the column layout to be consistent throughout the board.

However, you can use the hide columns feature along with the board filters to get different views of your board per group without the irrelevant columns:

Alternatively, if you decide to split your groups into different boards, you can then create a Dashboard that will combine information from multiple boards. Dashboards allow you to pull data from different boards into one place. Using The Table Widget you can place multiple boards with different columns and include them all in the same place.

Here is more information about Dashboards: What are the Dashboards?
