Multiple statuses sub-item tracking

I have a board that has a bunch of sub items. The sub-items all have multiple status options then an overall “done” option. I want to create an automation that when all statuses are complete main status changes to done.

It would also be cool if there was a way to see like the roll up to item how many statuses in a subitem are done vs not done and what the overall is visually. That would be my ideal instead of a switch that flips when everything is done.

any way to do this-- or i hate to ask a paid marketplace app for this?

Hi Josh,
You could create an extra column in your board to keep track of the Subitem Statuses. Then, for each status option, set up custom automations that update when those sub-item statuses change…Once all sub-items are marked as done, adjust your main automation to automatically switch the parent item’s status to “done”.
Hope this helps!

You can create an automation to set the main status to “done” when all sub-items are complete using tools like Jira or Trello. For visual roll-ups, you can use progress bars or custom fields to show the completion percentage of sub-items. Some tools have built-in features or plugins (like “Card Progress” in Trello) for this, but a paid app might make it easier to achieve the exact functionality you want.

You can use a board automation to change the main status to “done” when all sub-items are completed. For visual tracking, you could use a progress column or create a custom formula column to track the completion ratio of sub-items.

Yea but I’m not seeing how to do that I have a column for subitem statuses but I don’t see a way to add multiple triggers that wait until they are all switched?

Hi Josh, find this automation template to update your main status change.

Then, mirror your subitem status to your parent item so you’ll have an overview of the subitem’s status progress.
