Option to Select Visible Columns in Left Panel of Update Window

Hi monday.com team,

I have a suggestion that I believe would greatly enhance usability for many users, especially those managing large boards with extensive data. Currently, within the update window, all columns are displayed in the left panel by default. This can make the view cluttered and less user-friendly when only specific data is relevant for certain tasks.

I propose adding a feature that allows users to select which columns are visible in the left panel of the update window. This improvement would:

  1. Enhance user experience by enabling each user to customize the view based on their specific needs.
  2. Boost productivity by reducing unnecessary information and allowing users to focus solely on relevant data.
  3. Improve information flow and decision-making, especially for teams working on large and complex boards.

This customization would be especially helpful for sharing key information with team members and stakeholders without showing irrelevant data, supporting a more efficient workflow.

Thank you for considering this request! I’m confident that many users would find this feature beneficial, and I hope it can be included in a future update.

Best regards,
Øystein

Hi @Heyerdahl, Hi there,

Thank you for the suggestion! I wanted to remind you about some existing views and functionality within Monday.com that might help with managing and customizing data visibility.

For example, you can use Board Views (like Table, Kanban, or Chart) to customize how data is displayed, making it easier to focus on relevant information. Additionally, the Hide Columns feature allows you to reduce clutter by hiding columns that aren’t necessary for specific tasks or team members.

In the Updates Section, you can also leverage custom filters to highlight specific data points relevant to ongoing discussions. This can streamline the view for each user without needing to see all columns.

I have used the new views to create tabs on the key boards for each user filtered by person and status to have a simple personisaled view  Could be worth considering.

Hopefully, these features offer some flexibility for now, though your idea sounds like it would further enhance customization.
