Hi everyone,

We’re currently working with a client who has a very clear requirement: they need Portfolio functionality within monday dev.

Here’s the situation:

  • Portfolio solution is officially available in Work Management (Enterprise).

  • We can create a Portfolio there.

  • After creation, we can use “Move to monday dev”, and the Portfolio board is successfully migrated and functions inside monday dev.

  • In addition, monday dev now supports Agile projects that can be added into Portfolio.

However, in monday dev there is no option to create a new Portfolio directly from the UI.

So our questions are:

  1. Is this expected behavior or a temporary limitation?

  2. Is moving Portfolio from Work Management to monday dev an officially supported workflow, or just a workaround?

  3. Can this setup be considered stable and safe to implement for Enterprise clients?

  4. Is there a roadmap for native Portfolio creation directly inside monday dev?

We want to make sure we’re advising the client correctly and not relying on something that might be considered a beta feature or unintended behavior.

Any clarification from the product team would be greatly appreciated.

We were on the trial version of monday dev and ran into similar questions. Based on what we found and also verified it with the monday AI chatbot, here’s what we learned:

Creating a Portfolio in monday dev
Currently, there’s no direct option to create a new Portfolio inside monday dev from the UI. This appears to be expected behavior, not a temporary limitation.

Moving a Portfolio from Work Management to monday dev
This workflow is supported. You can create the Portfolio in Work Management (Enterprise) and then move it to monday dev. It’s not just a workaround - it’s a recognized way to integrate Agile projects into a Portfolio setup.

That said, I’d strongly recommend checking all of this with monday.com Support or your CSM. They’ll be able to provide the most definitive and up-to-date guidance.

At the moment, Portfolio is officially available in monday Work Management on the Enterprise plan. There isn’t currently an option to create a new Portfolio directly from the monday dev UI.

Creating the Portfolio in Work Management and moving it to monday dev can work, but since native creation is not available in monday dev, this would be considered a workaround rather than a fully supported monday dev feature.
