I’m pretty new to Monday, but looking to become a superuser for my team!
Here are the requirements for what I’m trying to accomplish without any apps, I have to achieve this using out of the box Monday.
Background:
The Marketing Team has a Board that is used to Submit requests, they used it to approve request etc.
The Events Team has a Board where they store all of the requests that they would like to work on, they meet on a weekly basis and agree on which one should be submitted to the Marketing Team. Today they would go to the Marking Form and submit a request. For update for requests that they have submitted they would have to look at the Marking Board.
Requirements:
When the Event Team creates a New Request and updates the Status of “Send for Approval”, Send a copy to the Marketing Team’s Board. --DONE
When the Marketing Team Approves a Request, Update the item on the Event Teams Board. This is where I need help because I don’t know how to update an item that is already on the Event Teams board. Create item in Board wouldn’t work because then it’ll have duplicate entries.
So it sounds like you only want the request living in one place? ie events team needs to send the request to marketing, then that item doesn’t need to live on the events board anymore? If so, you can use workflows to ‘move’ the item OR you could ‘create a new item’ on the events board and have an automation delete the old one.
Another option is to use the ‘create new item’ and allow for the duplication, just have a status on the originating board that shows it’s been submitted already?

Since I’m new to Monday.com and still learning.
Event Team has a board that they store all their Event Idea, once they agree on one they change the status to “Send for Marketing Approval” → This is easy to do via automation.
Marketing Team receives request and they “Approve” the request and make some updates to the request. I want a copy to be sent back to the Event Team’s board. So basically a replacement of the original request in the Event Team Board. The idea here is that the Event Team Board will have the most up to date, without having to go look at the Marketing board.

For this scenario, I’m sending a request from my board to your board, You Approve it, and then it gets send back to my board with your Approval and any Updates.
Where I’m stuck is getting the Approval and/or Updates. I’ve tried copy and duplicate but I wasn’t able to get the updates.
