I recently faced a challenge with Gmail automation in Monday.com, where a client needed: Styled email text (bold, italics, underline) Masked URLs in hyperlinks Email signatures
Unfortunately, Monday.com’s built-in Gmail automation doesn’t support advanced email formatting.
To overcome this, we leveraged Make.com, which provided a seamless way to format emails using HTML. The Gmail module in Make.com allows you to: Use HTML scripts to fully style the email content Apply text formatting (bold, italics, underline) Use <a> tags to mask links Create HTML lists and add styled images
This approach completely solved our issue, and we are now live in production with the new, fully formatted email system!
I’ve attached screenshots for reference. Let me know if anyone has faced similar challenges or needs help setting this up!
You seem to be posting this solution as if what’s going on here is a good thing! I think the fact that you need to use an external tool to get such basic email functionality out emails sent from Monday is a travesty. When Monday was just for project management, maybe limited email formatting was acceptable. But now that Monday is trying to be a CRM as well, the absence of basic formatting capability, HTML emails, and even including the email thread in a reply, is enough to make me consider looking elsewhere. Yes, you can use Make / Zapier / etc. as a workaround, but wow that’s a lot of overhead for such basic capabilities. Monday – please, please fix this!
I agree it’s ridiculous to have to use an external tool for this!
FYI - You can do HTML emails in Monday CRM, but not in Monday Work Management. You should not have to pay for an additional product just to get this feature which most companies would consider a basic necessity (e.g. logo branding in emails).
In Monday CRM, you still have to write the HTML though, which is not easy for basic users. There should be a built-in WYSIWYG editor for creating rich emails.
cool solution. Unfortunately, most companies don’t allow the use of third party integration apps due to data security. It’s not an option for the company I’m working for.
Make.com really takes Monday to the next level. We use Make.com in every single custom config to create seamless workflows that connect APIs or Webhooks across all client tools creating a mini ERP for SMBs.. Good work Buddy
You can also achieve all of these features using the SuperMail app. SuperMail has a drag-and-drop HTML editor and a copy/paste editor, as well as the ability to embed buttons that change status columns, links, images, and more.
Another advantage is that you can track emails using SuperMail dialog, giving insights that regular Gmail and Gmail integration do not offer.
Glad to hear that—and thank you! We’ve got the solution now. If you’d like to explore it further or have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at creativebits@creativebits.us. We’d be happy to help!
