We are using Date column for our due date/deadline for every line item. And we do dependency for every line item.
However, we can’t find a way to skip weekends/holidays. Is there a separate automation to do this? Please help.
Hey @TJ_S - I had a look at this in my test environment and it would always skip over the weekends.
Item 1: Due Date = Thurs. June 3
Item 2: Due Date = Friday June 4 / Dependancy on Item 1
I then changed Item 1 Due Date to Friday June 4, the Due Date of Item 2 was set to Monday June 7.
Have you checked your settings under Admin > General > Account Tab. Make sure Hide Weekends is set. As for holidays, that would be trickier as holidays are region specific.
Thank you for this. However, we don’t use Timeline Column for our Due Date options. We use the Date column. Because timeline column has very less filtering options:
Timeline Filters:
Due Today
Future
Past
Milestone
Blank
As compare to Date Column:
Overdue
Done on time
Done overdue
Today
Tomorrow
Yesterday
This week
Last Week
Next Week
Last Month
Next Month
Past Dates
Future Dates
Upcoming
Blank
Meanwhile using both columns in the board is not as efficient as it can be because date plotting is very manual.
Hi @TJ_S - sorry, in my example I was using Date columns not timeline columns, so it should work I think. I recorded a quick video to show it working as expected in action:
Hi Mark! I really appreciate you taking your time on this. Now, I realized that this would work for Date column only if setting Monday as the first day of the week. So, I think, we have to switch to that settings. We have been using Sunday as the first day of the week because it is visually common for everyone.
