Use the result of the numbers column (the sum)

Hi everyone,
Was wondering if the sum that comes out at the end of the number column can be used?
I’m trynig to set up a board that analyses cost and revenues to get the redditivity out of it (revenues-cost).
Can anyone help me?
Because you cant set negative numbers for a fixed group and also in the dashboard you can only sum the elements and not like see the difference between two groups.
Thanks everyone who stops by
M

It sounds like you’re looking to create a dashboard that analyzes the profitability (revenue - cost) of different groups, but you’re encountering challenges with handling negative numbers and performing calculations between groups. Here are some suggestions that might help:

  • Handling Negative Numbers: While fixed groups typically don’t support negative numbers, you can still represent costs and revenues in a way that allows for profitability analysis. One common approach is to use separate columns for revenues and costs, then calculate profitability (revenue - cost) as a separate column.

  • Calculating Profitability: Instead of trying to perform calculations directly within the dashboard, you can pre-calculate profitability in your data source (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets, database) and then import the calculated values into your dashboard. This ensures accurate calculations and simplifies dashboard setup.

  • Visualizing Profitability: Once you have profitability values calculated, you can visualize them in your dashboard using charts or tables. For example, you could create a bar chart showing profitability for each group, allowing stakeholders to easily compare profitability across different groups.

  • Dashboard Tools: Depending on the dashboard tool you’re using, there may be specific features or functions that support advanced calculations or comparisons between groups. Explore the documentation or seek assistance from the dashboard tool’s support resources for guidance on how to achieve your desired analysis.

By separating revenue, cost, and profitability calculations and leveraging appropriate visualization techniques, you can create a dashboard that effectively analyzes the financial performance of different groups. hpinstantink If you need further assistance with specific aspects of setting up your dashboard, feel free to provide more details, and I’d be happy to help!
