What is the best way/workaround to mirror a mirrored column?

I have a Time Log board where I note which document I was working on at different times of the week.

These documents exist as items across a range of other boards.

Currently, when looking at the Time Log board, I am easily able to click my mirror column (connected to these other boards) and add a document in.

However, if I enter one of the document boards, that document will not have all the time entries related to it automatically linked — I need to manually tick the checkboxes for it.

I feel like I’m missing something really basic here; what’s the best way to automate this?

i.e. whenever Item 1 “linked” in a mirror column on another board, I want Item 2 to be automatically linked on Item 1’s home board in a mirror column.

Hi @JackNagy

I’m not sure I completely understand what you’re looking to achieve here.

Are you looking to create a 2-way mirror (i.e. when Item 1 on Board A is connected to Item 1 on Board B, also create the connection on Board B back to Board A)?
If so, it is possible to create a 2-way link! You’ll just need to select this when you set up the Connect boards column.

If you’re looking to automate your board connections so that items on your board are automatically linked to their respective items on another board, we do have a number of automations that you can use to create a logic for this.

You can find steps to set up both the 2-way connection and the automations in this article: https://support.monday.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000635139-Connect-Boards-Column-Previously-Link-to-Item-Column-

I hope this helps! Remember to mark as solved if this answers your question
