I created a team of 12 people. I assigned a subitem to the team. I assigned a work schedule to the team that is 9:00 to 17:00, 40 hours/week. When I check the workload, the capacity for the team is 40 hours/week, without considering that there are 12 people in that team. The capacity to be considered should be 40 * 12 = 480 hours/week
If I mark the activity as completed, the workload is not affected. As a workaround I can adjust the activity end date but this is annoying and a waste of time.
I’ve spoken with the team internally and they confirmed that at this time, teams are not supported in terms of ‘capacity’ i.e. if you assign a team, it will not calculate capacity based on summing together the capacity of all the team members. This is a known limitation at this time - we apologise for the setback
Regarding your second question, you are correct in that nothing will change… Can you let us know what you’d prefer or expect to happen, so we can better understand what you’re looking to achieve? Thanks
thanks for your reply. I would say that once the activity is marked as done, the entire effort should be considered as delivered and its effort should not consume any capacity in the workload widged.
@BiancaT The lack of team capacity insights is hindering our ability to effectively plan and allocate resources. When can we expect a solution to be implemented? Is it on the roadmap? I’m committed to providing better capacity information for our organization.
Currently, I’m tracking capacity for each person individually. Is there a way to select all boards at once and keep them in sync if new ones are created by department x? I need visibility into what our teams are doing across all boards for capacity planning.
I suggest you try the TeamBoard: Resource Planning app. the TeamBoard app is sync with monday. With Teamboard, you can set work hour capacity for each member or the entire team, and the workload will be based on the planned hours and the total capacity. It won’t change unexpectedly.
Plus, you can get an overview of your team’s workload easily.
It’s disappointing that essential features like team capacity planning aren’t fully integrated within Monday.com, forcing us to rely on external apps or workarounds. This not only adds complexity to our workflow but also pushes us towards using alternative solutions, like Microsoft products, which we were hoping to avoid.
I get your frustration with team capacity planning not being fully integrated into Monday.com. While it’s not ideal to rely on add-ons, it allows the platform to stay flexible and customizable for different needs. Every tool has its limits, and add-ons help provide advanced features without complicating the core product. Your feedback is important, and hopefully, Monday.com will continue to improve and bring more of these features in-house.
