There is an “Update via email” for the Item Updates. Is there a similar feature for Activities? I want to be able to add activity (e.g note) by sending an email rather than doing it directly on Email and Activities page.
I know that I can log my outgoing emails into Email and Activities. But this doesn’t work when if, for instance, I am emailing my collegues about my call summary with an account. This is only helpful if I am emailing the contact in that specific account.
Currently, monday.com does not support adding activities (like notes or call summaries) to the Emails & Activities timeline via email, the way you can update an item using the “Update via email” feature.
Here’s a breakdown of what is and isn’t possible:
What you can do:
- Send and receive emails directly within the Emails & Activities app.
- Log activities manually (e.g., meetings, call summaries, notes) using the “Add activity” button
- Automatically log emails if they are sent to or received from contacts listed in the item’s Email column
- Use Gmail or Outlook integrations to automate email logging and calendar syncing
What you cannot do:
- Send an email to a monday.com address to log an activity (like a note or internal update) in the Emails & Activities timeline.
- Log internal communications (e.g., emails to colleagues) as activities unless they are manually added or the email is sent from within the Emails & Activities app.
Workaround Suggestions:
If you’re emailing colleagues about a call summary and want it logged:
- Manually copy the summary into a Note in the Emails & Activities timeline.
- Or, CC yourself and then manually paste the content into the activity log.
- Alternatively, consider using monday.com automations to trigger reminders or updates based on other board actions, though this won’t replicate full activity logging.
