Hi. It would be great to have the ability to add multiple items at one time to a board. This would save a lot of time in duplicating items.
Please walk us through a real world example of how you envision this working — step by step. I suspect this can be done if we have a better idea of what is needed.
Ugh, there was no sound to that video. Here’s another link to a video with sound - https://we.tl/t-BGUAod5iWZ

Bot? I’m not understanding what you mean. I’m a Monday client and I work for Skechers. I sent a link to download a video of a screen recording of me explaining my board suggestion. Not sure how else to send a video here, but typing all of this out would be long and confusing. Sorry, I had the mic turned off on the first recording.

Fair enough. I’ve just seen a fair number of posts that are wildly out of context promoting this product or that that and seem to be triggered by this keyword or that. I haven’t taken the time to view your video and see what you’re talking about so I will assume that I am mistaken. You have my apologies.
Ok, no worries Phillip! Thanks in advance and hopefully I made sense in the video. The feature would save us a ton of time if it were created!

Oh gosh, your comments are being sent to my email inbox and it says I can just reply to the emails. I’ll jump onto the board when I’m back at work tomorrow. I’m on West Coast time.

I sincerely apologize. I mistook your post for the kind of thing I see too often where someone (or something) does a fake post that is just a way to pitch one a paid solution. I jumped to conclusions without taking the time to understand. I am deleting my inappropriate comments with my apology.
Now that I’m finished being a jerk, I will try to help. Have you looked at the “Default Value” feature? You will still need to enter items one-by-one but all the duplicate info could be pre-filled. So in your scenario, only one thing, the shoe style number, would have to be entered. It isn’t adding in bulk like you asked but should speed things up quite a bit for you and can be deployed immediately. Have a look:
You can bulk create items by copying and pasting lists into monday.com also. It can be from an excel, doc, or even table. The only thing you have to check is if every item is on a separate line.
Another option is to duplicate a group that has your existing items created on it by using the custom automation, “Every time period, duplicate group”. You would choose the group that has your templated items on it.
Hope this helps!
Hey @psperry ! Again, no worries. The default value feature is definitely a workaround for what we’re looking for, but our jobs have too many different variables each time for this to be the golden solution. It is great to know about this though, so thanks. I’m wondering if what I’m looking to do is common enough for others to want/need also.
Hi @jailynnlucidday , thanks for looking into this. However, in our particular case, this would not be the fastest solution. I have jobs coming in every day and each one has different info… Also, in our case, the info does not exist in Excel or other formats. In the attached screenshot, each line is a job item and we’re getting 5-10 new jobs every day with 1-50 items needing to be entered. The info changes with every job.
That’s the challenge with Monday because it has such a broad application, you often don’t have a large number of people advocating for a given solution. If your jobs come in with a common format, it may be possible to set up a integration in Make, but I can’t really speak intelligently about that.
Another thought is to address your problem at the source – wherever the orders are initiated. The data you shared looks like a perfect opportunity to use Monday forms. That way the initiator’s keystrokes aren’t wasted and the folks on your side can be freed up to focus on other things. But some companies are more willing to embrace change than others…
@psperry Yes, that would be great, but I don’t see it happening here. I’m a photographer in the advertising department. The jobs are a lot to organize for myself and the retouchers, so we convinced them to get a Monday account for us - it’s been great so far. Since it’s only tracking photography and retouching, the project managers and everybody above them only glance at Monday to see the progress of their jobs. I can mention this to them, but I’m doubtful they’ll go for it simply because Skechers is a large machine (3rd largest shoe company in the world) and slowing down to grasp this might make their heads explode. What are the odds of this feature being considered at Monday?
I have no way of predicting but it seems like a request that could have some broad appeal.
One thing with Monday forms, the requester does not need to have access to Monday or even know that’s what they are using. You just send them a link to a simple web form and they use it to submit their requests. They fill out the form and submit and all that data goes right into Monday. It might even be easier than whatever they are doing now.
@psperry I just watched a video about forms and it seems like a good idea. I’ll look into it some more and make some dummy jobs to see it’s going to work. Seems pretty simple. Thanks again!
