Automation creates board from template now how I automate the connection?

We have a general projects board that houses all projects but from time to time we will need to use a more detailed specific board. We have an automation that when a status is changed to General it will create a detailed board using one of our templates. The problem is once I create that I lose the connection unless my team does it manually (which has to be done for all 50 items) using the connect boards column and still doesn’t resolve full issue.

I thought about using Zapier to connect the two boards but can’t seem to find a way to do this. Does anyone know of a Zap (or any other product) that will say if this board is created from this status change then provide a item ID in this column?

I figure if I can at least get an item ID in a column then I can zap my way to every other change I need. I planned on going the zap method because the new board takes you from a horizontal project pathway to a vertical pathway (hope that made sense).

Hi dear @Jeanette , You can do it by Make.com and mapping these (Creating board, getting Items Id, Updating connect board column, etc.)
Let me know if you have any other questions
Thanks

hi @Jeanette

Your use case looks to be a perfect candidate for the Rollup Multiple Boards app, see https://monday.com/marketplace/101. There is a video to be found here RMB and RSI video.mp4 on Vimeo

In short: from the “general project board” you can change a status and a detailed project board is created from your template. Now you can use a large set of builtin integrations to get aggregated data from your detail board(s) into the general project board (without using mirror columns).
