Can I change status label colours without affecting items?

Hello everyone,

I would like to change the colours of two existing status labels:

• “Payroll released to client” (currently pink)
• “Pending review” (currently dark green)

What I want to do is swap their colours, make “Pending review” pink and “Payroll released to client” dark green, without changing the status labels themselves, since they have already been used across hundreds of items.
The problems is:

• I can’t find the exact colours (like dark green) in the status colour palette.
• I could rename the labels to get the colours I want, but that would cause confusion and extra work due to how widely these statuses are already used.

So my question is:
Is there a way to change the colours of existing status labels without affecting the items that already used them.

Each color can only be used for one status/label (so you don’t see dark green as an option because it’s already being used. Changing the color of the status/label will NOT affect the item. However, IF you have any filters set up where it’s based on color and NOT on the text/label, you’ll need to update those.
