Changing Status of contact that fills out a form

Is there a way to change the status of a contact when a form is filled out? I am trying to easily followup with contacts that have not filled out the form. Any suggestions?
The best identifier would be the email.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am not sure how to complete this process.
I need a few more details if possible.

  • Set up an automation that triggers when your form is submitted
    So I would set this up in the forms board. “When an item is created”

  • Use the email as the unique identifier to match form submissions with contacts

  • How do I match the email when the form is on a different board from the contacts? I don’t see that possible within automations on the Forms board? I have a next step of “Then do this” with options where I can Create an new item on the contacts board but I don’t see a way to match the email or change a status.

  • Configure the automation to update the contact’s status column automatically.
    If I can match the form to the contact, the seems like it would be the easy part. But I have to get past step 2 to figure this out
