Hi - in dashboards how would I go about building a chart that counted and summed all closed won deals by month from 2021 and also pulled in the same for 2022 so that I could see where we are tracking YOY?

Without seeing the types of columns or information in the columns you have on your boards.
The general way to display the information in questions would be through the settings of the widget in the dashboard to ensure it is picking up the information you need for closed won deals by month etc.
If you are unable to do this, you might need to restructure your columns/data in the board itself where the dashboard is grabbing the information.

This will largely depend on the way you’ve set up your boards.
Are you perhaps able to share with us a screenshot of the board you’re using to track your deals?
You can duplicate the board and replace any sensitive data with mock data, or you can blank out the sensitive data.
If you’re using a status column to track your deal status, along with a date column for the deal, you should be able to create a chart that compares these fairly easily.
For example:
This example would pull through each of the status labels and the number of items with that status label per year.
The settings would look something like this:
