creating a formula based on the progress tracking column

currently monday.com in the column progress not able to set the formula based on the status or timeline. as for now it is only provided for status “done” which automatically 100%. i have raised this issue to the agent, kindly help on this. thank you

Hey @santi.rolasni - you’re right that the native Progress column currently only calculates 100% based on “Done” statuses, and doesn’t factor in custom statuses or timelines.

While it won’t override the built-in Progress column, you can use Smart Timeline + Duration to trigger automations based on duration, status, or timeline milestones.

For example:

  • Change status automatically when a task reaches its expected end.
  • Send reminders or update columns based on how far along a timeline is.
  • Chain timeline progress between items using dependencies.

It’s a great way to create your own smart workflow logic around progress especially when the default features fall short.
