Duplicated items not showing up in Google Calendar

Hi. We’re using Monday.com to keep a track of events. We’ve integrated the relevant Monday.com board with Google Calendar so that all new entries/events automatically show up in Google Calendar. This integration is working correctly.

When we have a number of new events that need to be added to the board, in order to speed up the process of creating new events we duplicate existing items and then update them with new data. However, we’ve discovered that duplicated items which are then updated with new info are not showing up in Google Calendar. I understand that this is because duplicated items are not covered by the used integration template.

We have been instructed to create a two-way sync between Monday board and Google Calendar but there is an error with Google Calendar to Monday board template and we are not able to test if this would solve the problem.

Is there another way to fix this? Or is the only solution to re-create the duplicated items as brand new events?

Thanks.

Hey there! Shannon here with the monday team. :waving_hand: I’d like to troubleshoot this further with you! Which two Google Calendar automations did you set up on your board to establish the two-way sync between both platforms? Would you be able to share screenshots with me here?

You’ve shared that your team duplicates existing items on your board to create new events in an efficient manner. Currently, on both platforms, duplicating an item or Google Calendar event will create a new event/item on the other platform. Testing on my demo board, when I followed the same steps, my automation ran as expected and created the duplicated event. After updating the duplicated item, the event was modified as well. I also tested duplicating an existing Google Calendar event and a new item was created on my demo board. What is the error message you’re receiving on your end?

Here is a visual of the original event and the duplicated events in my Google Calendar:

The two “(copy)” events were created separately, one from monday and the other on Google Calendar.
