Emmanuel Katto Dubai : Is there a way to automatically generate a progress overview on a high-level board, without manually syncing each item?

Hi everyone,

I’m working on setting up a high-level board to manage my projects, where the board will include key project metadata (like who’s responsible, the team, priority, etc.), and the low-level boards will track the specific tasks and subtasks necessary to complete the project.

The challenge I’m facing is that I want to roll up the progress from the low-level boards into the high-level board. I tried using a mirror column, but it requires me to manually add each individual task for it to be reflected in the progress calculation. Ideally, I would love to have one of the following options:

  • Mirror entire boards instead of individual items (tasks)
  • Select “All Items” or specific groups to mirror
  • Set up an automation that automatically links new tasks to the mirror column of the corresponding high-level project when they’re created

Has anyone found a way to do this more efficiently or have suggestions on how to automate it?

Regards
Emmanuel Katto

Hi Emmanuel, you can do this in a way. In automation templates type the word “match”. If you set up the Project name on the high level board, and also in a column on the low level board, then they can auto connect using one of the matching automations. I suggest using a two way connect column (unless there is sensitive data, and you can’t hide sensitive columns). You can also bulk select connections on the low level board (for existing items).
