"Every time period" automations shouldn't run in Board Templates

Description

For context, I am an IM for a Monday partner.

I recently created a board template for a client that contains an “Every time period” automation to create an item every day.

I came back to the template a few days later and was shocked to find that the automation is actually running inside the template and creating items.

I obviously don’t want this automation to be actively running inside the template itself, just in the boards created from it. Now my client has to go into the automation center and turn on the “Every time period” automation on each new project board that they create.

This is not really a feature request, more like a bug report. This is not expected behavior at all and should not be happening.

What are you trying to achieve

Just “Bug fix” is too short apparently, so here are some more characters.

Agreed - this doesn’t sound like expected behavior. I haven’t personally tested this with “Every time period” automations in templates, so I can’t confirm whether it behaves the same way for me.

That said, I’d definitely recommend logging a ticket with monday.com support (if you haven’t already), as this feels more like a bug than intended functionality and is something the product team should take a closer look at.

Already went over it with Monday support via chat and they confirmed it was expected behavior, but you’re right that it is a bug and I should put in a more formal support ticket. I realized later that when automations are turned off in a template board, they don’t appear at all in the boards created from that template, so it’s even more of an issue than I initially thought.
