group-by formula column

I’d like to be able to set up a group-by on my board using a formula column - is there a way to do that?

We have a Label column for Sprint, but if I keep updating that column with sprints for the coming years the picklist will get quite long (already, with 26 sprints in one year, it’s pretty long).

I’m looking at having a Year column and a Sprint column, and then concatenating them in a Formula column.

Other solutions appreciated!

I would suggest to give General Caster a try as this app is outputting to a local column type (not a formula column) as it does the formula calculations in the backend.
