I want Monday.com to send an email only if a certain group contains items. I’ve tried looking at the “every time period” automation, but that will send an email for every item in the group. Basically, if the group is empty I don’t want anything to happen. But, at 9:30 every morning, if there are in any items in that group, I need an email sent to a team member.
Hey Amanda,
Could something like this work for you?
Essentially it will be able to pick up if items exist in a specific board, while allowing you to automate the notification on a recurring basis by setting then pushing the date once the notification has been sent. I recognise this may not necessarily be the perfect automation, however I believe this is the ideal way forward with what’s currently supported
Hi Bianca. Thanks for the feeback. I don’t want to use a recipe that triggers per item. In this case, I would receive possibly 100 notifications (1 per item in the group). I want one report or notification that there are items in a particular group on a particular board without having to go to these boards everyday and check the groups.
Thanks for getting back to me Amanda!
I’ve found an existing feature request that sounds like it’s along the lines of what you might be looking for - Automated email updates of specific group item statuses for client communication.
Does this sound similar?
Yes, that feature would be helpful. In the string you referenced, I only see a request for the feature but no solution or that the feature has been implemented…
Hey @awright
We developed an app called Board Report Automations that allows generating advanced reports on groups. These reports are built based on monday.com docs so you can export them PDF, collaborate, comment and more. They’re also sent via notification & email.
There are multiple types of reports you can create but here’s an example to illustrate the concept →
You can find it in the monday.com marketplace within the platform or here - monday.com: Apps Marketplace
Hope that helps!
