Hi all, how can I do so that open ended questions go to the Updates section after the form is submitted

Hey Mary, currently, the update section can only be connected to one question. In other words, there is no way to map multiple questions directly into the updates section.

As a workaround, if you want the answer reflected in a column and the update section, you could use this automation below. In the “this text” part of the recipe, you can use the “auto populates fields” to post the form answer in the column to the updates section as well:

Always test your setup to ensure that responses are being routed correctly.

Hi Malia,
Thank you for your reply. Let me, please, specify my question. I want to create a monday form so that my colleague can submit the requests. And I want it work that there is a field “requirements” with just “long text” that will appear in my board in the updates section of the created item. Can you, please, advise? Thank you

Hey Mary, thanks for your response! I just want to make sure I’m on the same page here. You’re saying that for the open-ended questions (Long Text Column) on your forms, you’d like the responses from the submitters to be added to the updates section of the newly created item, instead of being placed in the Long Text Columns on the board. Do I have that right?

So, just to paint a picture, referring to this screenshot below, the answers to these two questions would ideally appear in the updates section of the item, correct?

Hi Malia, exactly, that’s what I am looking for. Thank you

Thank you for confirming! As shared perviously, unfortunately, there is not an option to set specific columns to feed directly into the updates section.

At the moment, the form only allows one question to feed into the updates section, and that question is the one that appears when checking this box in the form setting:

I truly see the value of being able to select specific columns for the updates section, it’s a great idea! If you’re interested, you’re welcome to share this as a feature request on our community page’s dedicated section. Learn more here
