Hi everyone,
I’m trying to build a high-level dashboard that pulls data from multiple boards to track overall project progress and team workload. I want to see combined metrics like timelines, status, and key KPIs in one view.
What’s the best way to set this up in monday.com? Are there any widgets or setup tips I should know about?
Depending on your setup, there are two strong ways to build a high-level dashboard:
1. Use a Portfolio View (via monday projects)
If you’re using monday projects, you can create a Portfolio and add your relevant project boards. This setup lets you track progress both at the individual project level and across all projects in one place.
Each project appears as an item in the portfolio.
You can mirror key data (e.g., status, timelines, KPIs) from each board into the portfolio.
You can also add high-level columns in the portfolio (e.g., overall risk, priority, owner) for a more strategic overview.
You can set up a resource directory for each project (and overall on the portfolio view).
You can build out dashboards for the Portfolio view and individual project view (and combined).
A major benefit: the connection is native—no need to manually set up mirrored columns or connect boards.
2. Build a Custom High-Level Board
If you’re not using monday projects, create a high-level board and connect each item (project) to its corresponding low-level board using the Connect Boards column.
Use Mirror columns to pull in timelines, statuses, and other KPIs.
You can then use Dashboards to combine this board and others into a single view, using widgets like the Timeline, Battery, Numbers, Workload, and Chart widgets.
Let me know if this was helpful or if you have any other questions.
The easiest way to achieve this is with Same Item Multiple Boards. You can simply create a “high level” board(or use an existing one) and set an automation in each low-level board that when item is created/status changes, add the same item to the high level board. All the columns, updates and subitems will sync perfectly
Add all the items/subitems you’d like to get an overview of to the high-level board using Mirror Item Multiple Boards.
Your high-level board will always reflect the latest data from the other boards, and you could also comment from the high level board and have it shown in the connected item on the low level board
