Is there any way in Monday with line graph chart widget to be able to compare the two years on a month-over-month break down.
My goal is to have the Y axis be Total Revenue and X axis be Months. And then have a green line for This Year and a red line for Last Year so I can show month over month how we are performed in comparison to last year in the same month. So I can compare January 2026 sales to January 2025 sales.
Is that doable? Currently, I have not found a way to do that kind of chart that is extremely useful for sales performance tracking.
Currently, this is what it looks like. Currently January performed the same mostly but in the leading months, we would like to know if they did the same as well in revenue or perform greater or lesser. So far, I haven’t found a way to do this.
Hello @JFergus
Not natively, unfortunately. The Chart (line) widget can’t do a true month-over-month Year vs Last Year overlay unless your board is already structured with two separate series.
Best workaround: build your board with
Month (Jan–Dec)
Revenue This Year (number column)
Revenue Last Year (number column)
Then chart both revenue columns as two lines.

At this time there’s not a way to do that natively (perhaps there is an app). What I do is create two charts and place one right under the other so that’s easy to compare. Then just set the filters, so one shows last year and one shows this year.
Hey Joseph, what you’re looking for isn’t fully supported in the line chart widget yet. A common workaround is to add a “Year” column and filter by year, or create separate boards/groups for each year and pull them into a dashboard widget. For a cleaner month-over-month comparison, many teams export to Excel or a BI tool like Power BI. Definitely a feature worth requesting!
Short answer: natively, monday doesn’t really support this kind of YoY month-over-month comparison in a single line chart yet.
The usual workaround is to either:
Create separate boards (or groups) for each year and pull them into a dashboard table/line widget, or
Add a “Year” column + Month column and use formulas to normalize months, then filter the widget by year — but even that is pretty limited and clunky.
For clean “Jan 2026 vs Jan 2025” lines on the same chart, most teams end up exporting to Excel/Google Sheets or using BI tools (Looker, Power BI) connected to monday.
This is a super common request though, so upvoting feature requests around advanced charting is definitely worth it.
