New features wrap-up (June)!

We’re at the end of June (…we can’t believe it either :open_mouth:), so you know what time it is - time for our monthly feature wrap-up! We had some releases worth celebrating, so keep your eyes peeled until the end for exciting new releases in their development stages.

As always, please take a look at the release status definitions below for a quick refresher

  • In development - Our team is working on finalizing this feature. We do not have an exact release date, but you can expect to see it soon! That said, development status is subject to change; however, we will keep you updated throughout the month in our community.

  • Gradual Release - This feature is being released gradually; you can expect to see the feature in your account in the coming weeks

  • Released- This feature has been released, and you should see it in your account.

Without further ado, let’s jump right into our :star2: fully released features :star2: for the month:

:mag_right: Transfer automations before disabling the users: This is a fan favorite that we are excited to have released! Admins can now transfer automation ownership of a user before disabling them in the platform. Say goodbye to halted workflows and unnecessary administration - automations are conveniently handed over in 2 clicks :computer_mouse:

:mag_right: Permission changes on monday.labs (Enterprise): Admins on Enterprise can now moderate who can enable features on their monday accounts. The new permission on the account level, “Examine experimental features using monday.labs,” will allow admins or anyone granted permission by the admin to examine features enabled in monday.labs. This release was in response to growing community feedback, so we hope this is a welcomed update!

:mag_right: New Workforms question format: We are introducing a new 1:1 questions format in Workforms :tada: The upgraded structure enables the submitter to view the questions individually, providing a more intuitive submission experience. No need to scroll and navigate between different questions - a benefit we see relevant for feedback surveys, contact sales forms, registrations, and more!

:mag_right: Additional divide-by options in Kanban: Our users can now divide by additional options when utilizing the Kanban feature! We listened to your feedback and recognized that it was time to expand this option to other column types. As such, you can now divide by ‘status’ and ‘connected boards’ (in the case of a single value only). You can also see the sprint header in the table view for our sprint users! Cool right?!

:mag_right: New CRM mobile item page: This one’s for our trusty sales CRM mobile users! We have upgraded the item page to simplify the experience when accessing item information. The new item page is easy to navigate and much more accessible and straightforward!

Let’s move on to the features that are in :star2: gradual release :star2: As such; some users may see these features while others may not just yet, so keep your eye out :eyes:

:mag_right: New monday layout: While some of you may have already experienced the simplicity of the new layout, we are excited to announce the rollout of the new and improved monday layout! The new layout fosters a seamless and intuitive user experience by rearranging features and tools to simplify navigation for our product and non-product users. Convenient :white_check_mark: Accessible :white_check_mark: Straightforward :white_check_mark:

While we’re here, we also wanted to clarify that :mag_right: mass emailing on sales CRM :mag_right: is still in gradual release! Please keep an eye on your account - the feature is in the process of being rolled out :eyes:

Now for a look at some :star2: epic :star2: features currently :star2: in development :star2: (You won’t want to miss this!)

:boom: Date column improvements: We know this one has been long awaited, especially within the community, and as such, we are finally making some highly requested changes to the date column UI!

These changes include:

:keyboard: Keyboard inputting and phrasing
:keyboard: Date pick shortcuts for more straightforward navigation

More information to come - so keep this one front of mind!

:boom: Board discussions: We are thrilled to announce a massive release that has been a core community feature request for quite some time! Very soon, users will be able to conveniently communicate in the context of a board, adopting the same updates section functionalities, including creating posts and the ability to reply and email to the discussion, as well as set reminders. A dedicated post is on its way, but we hope this sneak peek gets you on the tip of your toes :tada:

:boom: View lock permissions (Pro + Enterprise): Users will soon be able to lock board views they’ve created and accept the title of view creator . If any other user wishes to make changes or edits to a locked board view, they will need to save them to a new view , as no changes can be applied to a locked view unless you’re the view owner. Board owners will have the ability to lock all views. Say hello to increased visibility, better control and ownership, and improved view customization :lock:

Annnnd, that’s it for our new features :star2:

In regard to community updates, we wanted you to be the first to know about our exciting weekly office hour sessions coming to the community very soon! This will give a group of community members a chance to ask a couple of their burning questions to our monday experts each week. More details to come, so stay tuned!

Hello there, terrific updates this month! One question for the locked view. If a view is locked and we add columns to this board. Will the columns be added to this view? Or since it’s locked, no new column would be added by default to the locked view? I hope this feature is implemented this way as it would remove complains from users saying boards have ‘too many columns’. Thanks!

Hey @Cyrille,

Only users who have permission to edit the locked view will be able to apply and save changes/actions to that specific view. For those users that do not have permissions, will not be able to save the following actions:

  • Change filters
  • Sort column/items
  • Conditional coloring
  • Delete the view

As such, no new columns or changes will be applied if that user doesn’t have permission! Does this help?

Hello Bianca,

I was talking about when a new column is created in the board whatever the view. At the moment, the behavior in Monday is that the said column is added automatically to all the views in the board. Now with locked views, when a new column is created in the board by an admin user. Will the column be added automatically to a locked view to mimick the current behavior? Or, as I hope so, will it be a opt-in kind of situation?

The problem with the current behavior is that each view keeps growing as we add more column to the board. Each new column have to be removed manually into each view every time a column is created into a board. It is tedious to say the least to opt-out. And it’s confusing for the end users of the boards.

Thanks

Thanks for clarifying @Cyrille!

Checking up on this for you - will update as soon as I hear back

When will the “date column” improvements be available for trial?

Hey Maggie, did you sign up to our alpha group for testing? If so, you should have access in the next couple of weeks! Otherwise, stay tuned for release nearing the end of Q3

Hey Bianca, very excited by this new date column! I was wondering is it possible to sign up for alpha-testing in a way that it only reflects it for myself (or admins), but not the whole organization/account?
Would love to give it a go but am cautious of rolling out an alpha feature to my entire team. Thanks!

Hey @Dann,

Unfortunately sign ups for the alpha group have now closed - sorry for the inconvenience here! This feature is being rolled out for all users in the next couple of months so do keep an eye out

Ok - thanks for letting me know,

Eagerly awaiting both this and the “start and end time in date column” release. They will greatly improve my Monday.com experience and help solve some issues I face to do with scheduling and allocation of work.

Thanks again Bianca!

@Cyrille thank you for your patience  I am afraid at this time we are not changing the existing behaviour - I understand this is not the answer you were hoping for. I have shared this directly with the dedicated product team and will keep you updated in anything changes in the future!

Hello Bianca, thanks for the follow-up! Maybe with the ‘personal view’ feature then
