New Item in this group then change status

I am wanting to create an automation that when a new email arrives, it goes into Project Email group (managed to do this part) and then the status change to say New Email. Then another automation would send a message via Slack to a Project Channel that there is a new email.

I have tried the automation recipes and also creating a custom automation but I can’t see to get it to work. Is what I have described possible?

I think when following this setup How to create conditional logic on integrations for monday.com you shoul be able to create what you are describing, no?

Thanks for the suggestion - what would the recipe be? I can get it to go to the group and send a message to slack, however the bit missing for me is the status automatically changing once its in the group.
