Order of automations on a board

We would love this to be a feature too. either by numbering the order in which automations fire, or allowing us to tie automations to be tied into a timeline.

Ie " When time tracking is 01:00, notify person" to allow previous automations to have taken action.

We would also love the ability to group automations, copy and paste automations too.

To make it easier to manage your automations, we can implement a drag-and-drop feature in the overview window. This will allow you to group related automations together visually, improving organization and readability. We’ll also add functionality to reorder automations by dragging them, ensuring they are listed in a sequence that makes logical sense for your workflow.

By grouping and reordering automations, you’ll be able to:

  • Easily identify which automations belong together
  • Minimize potential conflicts by ensuring dependent automations follow a logical order
  • Simplify maintenance and updates of your automation workflows

Any update from the Monday team of where this sits in the product roadmap?

Last thing I can see mentioning it is Dec 2023 “it’s coming and in beta”

I guess they replaced this by the new “workflows”. When using them you can choose the order perfectly.
They unfortunately have extremely limited options when it comes to subitems.

How close is this to becoming a real item we can use? This is just one more thing I can not do and is making me wonder what else is out there to use that may have some of these items. This item has taken YEARS to solve and we still do not have it. Please advise ASAP @melissav-monday.com

Hi everyone! Amy here from the monday.com team. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the order of automations. We wanted to clarify the two main requests we’ve received here:

  1. Order in which automations run: This specific feature is not currently on our roadmap. While you can’t directly control the order automations run, you can achieve a similar outcome by combining actions into a single automation and arranging them in the desired sequence. Alternatively, you can use monday workflows (Enterprise only).
  2. Order of how automations appear: We’re looking into how we can improve the way automations are grouped and displayed in the automation center. This is part of our long-term roadmap, and we’re excited to explore how we can make automations easier to manage in the future! We will continue to keep you updated on any progress.

We appreciate your feedback as we continue to improve monday.com!

Hi @amybronstein am I correct to assume that a topic which is marked as “solved” will be ignored for future considerations? Meaning the 170+ votes can be returned to users?

Hi Monday.com team,

Currently, the order of automations cannot be freely rearranged by users. This makes it difficult to keep things organized, especially when managing many similar or conditional automations. Over time, the automation list becomes messy and hard to follow.
It would be extremely helpful if users could manually rearrange the order of automations, for example, by dragging and dropping them to better align with workflows, priorities, or logic flow.

Hope this feature can be considered in future updates. Thank you!

Hi! Thank you for submitting your feature request! I wanted to point you to an existing feature request for this, here: Order of automations on a board - #68 by Katinal2.

Currently, this is not on the Product Roadmap. You can reference this January 2025 udpate from the monday team:

If you’d like, I can help merge your feature request with the existing one to accurately count votes. This way, we can continue prioritizing the request with the Product team. Let me know if you’d like me to help with this! :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you so much for your detailed response!

If this feature is “not on roadmap” what exactly does the priority option for automations do? I thought this would determine the order of execution.
