Populate Monday docs with item and board values

Nevermind!

I did not understand at the beginning, I had to create a doc templete outside, then use it in the column, and then edit the template created it within the column.

Still learning how to use Monday but it is quite an amazing tool!

I’m running into the same issue with trying to display a formula value :slightly_frowning_face:

Thank goodness for this! I was really struggling extracting long text from filled in forms in a readable way
this works great! Only works with a document created in a Docs column though
need to figure out how to make this a template

Also finding that charts can’t be entered for the data in the board you’re in when you create a doc in that board - have to create a separate board and back-reference.

And would be great in that case if the Filters for charts would allow a smart entry in the doc template. For instance filter = when column x = the text in the column the doc was created in.

Any update on this? I would love this feature too

This is exactly what I’m looking for right now! Following incase anything comes of this. We are trying to automatically generate “Client Profiles” from an item and all it’s column’s data; for example, each Item is a different client, and all of the data in the columns relate to that client. Auto populating a document template for each item can then be turned into a “work order” for our install team.

HI MIke, Have you managed to get the dynamic feather to work on a template? Create a single workdoc template to use as a column document, and it will auto populate the relevant data when the document is created, without having to add the dynamic fields again for each document?

HI Sergio, Did you manage to get a workdoc template set up to automatically update the dynamic fields, when the template is used as a column doc? I haven’t managed to get this to work, and looking for guidance.

Hi Janet!

I could! I had to create a doc templete outside, then use it in the column, and then edit the template created it within the column.

But also, there was a Monday update, and now you can create a tab within a board with a document, which was what i was trying to do, as a master doc that everyone can see with dynamic values

Hi,

Being able to display item data inside a monday doc is a great improvement!
It would be even more powerful if we could also edit fields directly within the doc and have those changes automatically update the corrseponding columns in the board.
