Recurring/repeating tasks

Hi @Grzeg, we recently launched a new app “Schedule Recurring Tasks” just for these types of purposes. You can schedule task on per item basis with customisable time schedules. You can also set target group, status for the created item and also due date to x days post item creation date. Please check it out - monday.com: Apps Marketplace

This doesn’t work for companies who want to see all the reoccurring task as a monthly view when resourcing out a month in advance. I want to see 2 months form now what time is available for my team. And having a reoccurring task that is generated only after the date has passed is not useful for us.

Hi @KylaB ,

We have an app in marketplace monday.com: Apps Marketplace which has a calendar view, which allows you to see all the scheduled recurring tasks in calendar view, so you can see which monthly tasks are going to come in next months. After scheduling the required tasks, you can open the board view “Schedule Recurring Tasks” and see this calendar view. We really need this feature. I literally joined the community to vote this topic.
We need the feature to create one specific contact, mark a date of upcoming contact and simply set up a repetition of that date. Yearly contact e.g.
Automations are great, but that simplify the job a lot for users and sales people.

Hey Juan, I just release Recur which I hope solves the problem for you. If you give it a try let me know. tryrecur [dot] com

I agree that a feature like this is so needed! I am working in Monday for the first time and it baffles me that there is no recurring task feature AND the only way to implement one is to pay for a third party app through the marketplace. Repeating tasks are a basic function of project and work management.

I just wanted to chime in and add my support for this. We should not have to buy an add-on for such a basic feature that exists in every competing platform. It often feels like Monday will purposefully leave out features just so others can build solutions in the marketplace to fill in the gaps. I think marketplace apps can have their place, but not for such a basic feature.

Noticing all the great discussion around competitor apps—just wanted to mention that we’ve launched a powerful new feature for Recurring Tasks: Automatic Scheduling! You now have complete control over when tasks appear on your board, whether it’s the day before they’re due or on the due date itself. It’s designed to eliminate unnecessary clutter and keep your workflow super organized. Check out the original Recurring Task app for a cleaner, more efficient way to manage your recurring tasks!

I just started using monday at my new company, and have been amazed that this super basic feature is not there.

The lack of this feature would make me want to move to asana for my own task management. It’s so much work or even paid for to arrange this manually or with another tool.

I want to create recurring tasks, preferably in the deadline/date column “repeats every week on Monday” or so. This way, it is not a new task either, but it duplicates the updates and everything included.

I really hope this feature will be released soon.

Hi everyone! We know how helpful it would be to simply set a task to repeat every X period of time, so we wanted to let you know this feature is currently in the research phase and under consideration.

In the meantime, here are some ways you can work with the current automations:

  1. Use one of the five available recipe templates in the Automation Center, such as duplicating a group or creating an item at regular intervals.
  2. Take advantage of the “Every time period” trigger in custom automations, which lets you set actions to repeat daily, weekly, or monthly (please note that this trigger has some limitations, such as fewer actions and no conditions).
  3. Utilize the “When date arrives” block to set up notifications or actions before or after a specific date.

Adaptavist also created an app in monday app marketplace, which allows you to create recurring/repeating tasks in your monday.com boards. We understand that they don’t always perfectly match your use case and needs, but hope these solutions can help in the meantime!

While we don’t have a timeline to share just yet, we’re exploring the best way to bring this feature to life. Stay tuned for future updates, and thank you for continuing to share your feedback!

Hey everyone, I"m a new Marketplace dev, and I want this to be my first app!

Before I spend any time on this, I’d like some feedback on what existing solutions to this look like and what would be the most popular way to implement it is. Feel free to DM me or respond here
