Recurring Task Automation: Every Month on the 15th Duplicate Item & Reset Columns

One primary way our firm uses Monday is for recurring tasks (with sub-items) that happen on a specific day of each or a specific month. The way we have accomplished this is to create all of the Items (and subsequent sub-items) in January for the entire year, having an automation move each item to the “Active” group 15 days or whatever before the due date.

This is tedious, especially since these recurring tasks are the same for each of our many clients. That much manual work not only takes time, but can add errors.

Having an automation that could duplicate an item on a day of each month, as well as a day of a specific month, would fix the issue we are having. The reason we also can’t just create a new item is that each item has lots of sub-items which would make the automatons untenable to manage.

This would be what we would want to see:

1 - Every Month on the 15th and only if the status is “Template”, duplicate item, change status to “Active” and move item to Group.

2 - Every April 15th and only if the status is “Template”, duplicate item, change status to Active and move item to Group.

3 - Alternatively: Every month on the 15th (or every April on the 15th) duplicate item and reset all columns AND all sub-item columns.
