We try to manage resources by team instead of individuals, which means are trying to use the Workload widget in a team sense. Other than adding individual team leads as the Owner or a People column, or using a text column to identify the teams working on a particular task or sub-item, is there a way to produce an effort-based widget based on team?
Hey Nina!
Charlotte here for the team! Happy to help out with this!
As an alternative to using the People Column, you could try using a Status Column that is renamed with the team names to determine the “resource” setting in the Workload View/Widget.
Take the following example of using a Status Column to help allocate meeting rooms in the Workload Widget instead of people.
“Meeting Room” Status Column is selected as the “Resource Type”:
Would this be a suitable workaround for what you need? Let me know your thoughts and we can go from there!
That did it! Thanks Charlotte. I just met with the stakeholder and it works as we thought. The only enhancement we’d next like to see is how to add % weights for when a task requires more than one team to work on it. For now, our workaround is to add more granularity to the tasks and assign separate teams to each subitem. Sound about right?
