One of the most common challenges teams face in Monday.com is the inability to communicate across boards without manually switching between them. This becomes even more complex when boards are private, and teams need to maintain confidentiality while ensuring smooth communication.
Imagine this scenario:
Your sales team needs to communicate with the finance team, but the finance board is private, and sales shouldn’t have access to it. How do you enable seamless communication without compromising privacy or efficiency?
Recently, we tackled this exact challenge for a client using Make (an external integration tool). Here’s how we did it—and how you can too !
The Challenge
The client wanted their sales and finance teams to communicate effectively on Monday.com. However, the finance board was private, and the sales team couldn’t access it. Manually copying updates or switching between boards was time-consuming and disrupted workflows.
Monday.com doesn’t natively support cross-board communication without granting access to private boards. This created a bottleneck for the client, who needed a solution that maintained privacy while enabling real-time updates.
The Solution: Integrations to the Rescue
Using Make, we built an automation workflow that:
- Captures Updates from the Sales Board: The workflow monitors the sales board for new updates.
- Transfers Updates to the Finance Board: It automatically copies these updates to the private finance board.
- Maintains Privacy: The sales team never sees the finance board, and the finance team receives updates without leaving their workspace.
This solution allowed both teams to communicate seamlessly while maintaining strict privacy and workflow integrity.
