I’m trying to accurately track how many concurrent tasks are running ahead of the time estimate, on time with the estimate, or behind the time estimate needed for its completion.
Currently, my team will receive a job and will put in an estimation of a time needed to complete the task. The task is then scheduled for a later date. Once the task has been completed, we have an additional column for the team member to put how long the task actually took them.
The issue I’m encountering is looking on my KPI dashboard is this: All tasks that have Time Estimate (a number column) filled in with data, but don’t have Actual Time (also a number column) filled in, due to the work not being completed yet, are showing as behind time estimate and is a false indicator of the current work.
How best can I filter this data to discount tasks that don’t yet have an actual time number filled in?
Its a number column, so when I try add a filter that “AND” the only options I can see are numerical/mathmatical symbols. I’m unable to say “And actual time is not empty” - my options are “And actual time is equal/greater than/smaller than NUMERIC VALUE” - all instances will return false data.
Ah perfect thanks - somehow the bottom of those options was cut off from my screen, and if I tried to scroll down the screen would just shift itself back up to the top - so I couldn’t see those options at all! How odd.
That issue is sorted now, but I’ve come across another this morning.
I’m trying to filter using the above criteria (I’ve removed the actual person from people just for the purposes of this screenshot). However, that filter is not showing me everything that meets the criteria.
I have this task highlighted in blue - it is not showing when I use the above filter, but it meets the criteria. It is assigned to that individual, Time Difference is contains “under” and the Total Work Time is not empty. The board is connected as it shows other tasks from that board. Do you have any advice on this? I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.
Thats what the screenshot is showing, it looks misleading due to the Total Work Time row beneath it, but the only options I have for Time Difference are those listed in the screenshot. I don’t have an option for “is” in that field.
Got it, I can’t seem to replicate the issue. Maybe try disconnecting/reconnecting that board from your dashboard. If that doesn’t work, I’d recommend reaching out to monday support.
