Timeline showing versions of same completed items in gant

We currently have jobs as items that may be worked on in stages, so an item can have multiple versions/revision of drafts done before its completed.

In this case we are drafting plans, once a version is completed within a timeline, it shows in the gant timeline. But when it comes to version 2 we re-use the same item line and change the old timeline to a new timeline. This obviously deletes the old timeline history. So in effect we cant see all the time previously spent on that work.

What im wanting to see is the “ghost” timeline of previous work versions of that item.

Or is there a better way to set this workflow up?

Have you tried using the “Snapshot/Baseline” feature in the Gantt chart to accomplish this?

I’m not exactly sure if this would work for your use case since each item may move through the process at different times, and this would be best for capturing a snapshot on a regular cadence like the first of every month.
