+1!!
I also need this!
I get quite frustrated when the Monday logics of working doesn’t work/apply when you for instance mirror a board etc… Then the promised intuitive ways of working are not as simple as promised by Monday.com

@phk @Studio89 This functionality has been working for quite some time (filtering/sorting on connected board/mirror columns). If it is not working for you I recommend contacting monday support via support@monday.com.
Thanks,
Mark
@mark.anley Thanks for your comment, can you confirm whether it should be working with multiple connected boards because that’s where I have the issues.
@Studio89 - apologies I didnt realize that was the situation. Then yes you are correct this functionality is still not available when connected to multiple boards.
Please let us know when this fixed. Need this as well.
Hi all - I was also struggling with this and came up with a workaround. I created a new column that is a formula to reference the mirror column (e.g., New column = {mirror}) and then I could filter and sort off of the new column and hide the mirror one.
Hey everyone!
Would you be happy to elaborate further on the specific issues you’re running into with sorting/filtering mirrored columns (with more than 1 board connected)? We just want to ensure we are understanding the setback, so we can bring this forward with our product team!
Thanks
I am using a work around: I create a copy of the column I cannot use for filter (using formule) .
Hey Bianca,
Glad to provide you with some details/live examples.
We have a View in place on an overview board, which is used to maintain an overall Job Status based on where individual subitems (“Subitems Team Job Status”) on five connected boards are currently at, and it would help to filter across the values coming in from these different boards (at least being able to filter on something like the defined “Done colors” because the wording on the Subitems Team Job Status is slightly different across the individual boards and may not be easily aligned due to business needs.).
Here is an example what currently happens when I attempt filtering:
When I go to the “Subitems Team Job Status” column and click on “Filter”, the Advanced filters open up and a new filter line is added at the bottom but the column selection in it remains empty.
Filter on Subitems Team Job Status
When then trying to manually select my column to filter on by name, I can find it but when I try to select it from the drop-down (circled in red), it just disappears.
Before
After clicking on the selection in the drop-down menu
I hope this provides you with enough context on what we’re trying to accomplish and where we currently struggle with the existing system behavior.
On a related note: It may also be worth pointing out that the mouse-over information for statuses from connected boards does not accurately reflect the wording used on the specific board that the information is coming from. My guess is, that the mouse-over information is currently derived from the first connected board or something similar.
Best,
Ralf
Hey Ralf,
Thanks so much for sharing this information - really helpful. I have been able top test this on my end, and am not encountering the same issue:
As such, I am afraid this sounds like a potential bug Similarly, with the inaccurate wording for those mirrored status labels. So that our technical specialists can investigate your case, would you be happy to reach out to support@monday.com with this information? I apologise for the double work here Ralf!!
Hey Bianca,
You’re welcome and thank you for doing some testing on your end as well.
We have quite a large amount of different statuses on the Team Boards and while some of them overlap in terms of wording, there could be a total of more than the 40 statuses I know are allowed per status column. Would it be worth you checking if you can reproduce the error by increasing the amount of Subitem Statuses on the Connected Boards?
In any case, my colleagues informed me that our company has already scheduled discussions on establishing an ongoing support process with you/the Monday team, so I won’t reach out to the support@monday.com for now but I will definitely make a note of this particular bug/behavior and raise it in those upcoming discussions.
@BiancaT We have a similar filtering problem: you can’t filter by a mirror of a mirror column. Example for 3 Boards:
A [Staff]
B [Projects]
C [Funding]
where Board A is connected to Board B and Board B is connected to Board C. Board B mirrors a column (Project Manager) from Board A, and Board C mirrors the mirrored Project Manager column from Board B. You can’t filter Board C by the double-mirrored Project Manager column. The advanced filter shows that column in the selection drop list, but when selected, it does not establish a filter.
This is a problem because we only want the Project Manager value to be designated on Board B [Projects] (via connection of items to Board A [Staff]) and then mirrored on whatever other boards are connected to Board B, like Board C [Funding]. That way, whenever the Project Manager value is selected on Board B [Projects], it shows correctly in mirrored columns across all other boards connected to Board B. But we need to be able to filter by Project Manager in those Board C double-mirrored columns. Hopefully that makes sense and you are able to replicate this behavior.
It’s a serious limitation. One of the main reasons to embrace Monday in my organization was its potential to integrate tasks from multiple boards. Mirroring seemed the perfect answer right from the beginning.
Honestly, I do understand a system is never perfect and should always be subject to improvement, but Monday Team’s approach so far is a shame. This thread has been running for over a year and we still don’t have proper response.
It’s a (highly) paid service. Get your stuff together, Monday.
I am now experiencing the very same issue as @Studio89
This function was working fine a number of days ago.
Is this a bug your developer team are aware of an working on a fix?
Hi everyone! I am sorry to hear of these issues, and completely understand how frustrating they can be. I followed up with our developers yesterday on this, and they confirmed they’re well aware of this issue, although are unable specify an ETA for a fix (I know this isn’t what you want to hear…) as they are currently combatting long-standing high severity bugs - however as mentioned this is certainly not a pain-point they are ignoring and plan for it solved in the near future. I really appreciate your understanding of this and of course, I will provide updates on this matter as soon as I am provided the information
Also jumping in here @BiancaT - I have 12 people and growing on my marketing team. Every team member has their own board that rolls up into a central team board.
We decided to use mirrored columns to reduce duplicative work and allow maximum flexibility of working in any board they choose, knowing that each instance would update accordingly.
And now I’m trying to create filtered views by business line, since i have team members that focus on different businesses within my organization, and the filtering is not working. I can supply screenshots if needed, but it seems like the developers have this in queue.
I wanted to make sure I added to volume of concern here because I agree with everyone here that this use case is an important reason to use Monday and justify the cost to senior leadership, and if it’s unable to come through on the promise of streamlining workflows and making teams more efficient it is a concern.
Because then our teams won’t buy in to the use case, will not adopt the technology as a habitual action in there day to day, and another solution will be presented as an alternative to Monday that does have the functionality.
Thank you
Thank you for suggesting this workaround. How does it work? I will try and play around to figure out in the meantime.
Just add a column and had the formula ‘=’.
Give an meaingful name to avoid this column to be a source for other mirrors or formules.
Hi! Is this still not resolved?
Checking on this for you That said, from my understanding I do believe this is still a known issue under investigation. I will get circle back here as soon as I have a more concrete update
