Update Status A in Board 1, when Status A Board 2 changes to Done

Can I set up an automation for when a status column change is Board A it updates a status column in Board B? Both boards are shareable.

I do not want to create an item.

Is this possible, maybe a custom automation, like one of your templates?

Are the items connected via a connected column?

Hi,
You can look into mirroring the status column from one board and then using an automation to trigger an update on the other board when there’s a change

Hope this helps!

I thought about that, but you have to manually set it.

For example, Job Status is changed to Complete for the item in Board A. An automation in Board A updates the mirrored column so that it populate in the Job Status column in Board B. Can you automate what appears to be a manual process of a mirrored column? Seems I have to manually set the mirror column in Board A and I want that automated.

Not yet. I did try mirroring, but I am wanting to automate this process.

Hey @mark.stout @dmccarthy22710 @Fario_Consulting

We’ve developed an app called Connected Boards Automations. Which allows to run robust automations on connected boards column, here’s how it can be used in this case →

Move item to group →

Change status →

Also worth adding that it also supports -

  1. Automatically connecting items based on conditions and flexible logic.

  2. Automatically removing connecting.

  3. Syncing values between connected items.

  4. Cross-board automations (trigger in the connected board and action in the current board)

You can find it in the monday.com app marketplace in the platform or here - https://monday.com/marketplace/listing/10000321/connected-boards-automations-

Hope that helps!

Hi,

You can try the connected and mirror column to achieve this. Once that connection is stablished, you can use the pre-built automation from the mirror templates on the automation center:

I hope that works!

You can use Make.com to automate the process by monitoring the status column in Board A. When an item’s status changes to “Yes”, the automation will locate the corresponding item in Board B and update its status accordingly.

Steps to Set Up the Automation:

:one: Monitor the Status Column – Watch the status column in Board A for changes.
:two: Retrieve the Updated Item – Once the status changes to “Yes”, fetch the updated item details.
:three: Find the Matching Item in Board B – Search for the corresponding item in Board B using a unique identifier.
:four: Update the Status in Board B – Modify the status column in Board B to reflect the desired value.

This approach ensures seamless synchronization between the two boards, keeping data consistent and eliminating the need for manual updates. :rocket:

Let me know if you need further clarification!

Hi Mark,

Yes, this is possible with a custom automation! You can set up a rule like:

When Status A in Board 2 changes to Done, update Status A in Board 1.

Since both boards are shareable, we can use cross-board automation. Do you want the update to happen instantly, or should it run on a schedule (e.g., every hour)?

Let me know, and I’ll guide you through setting it up.

Best Regards
Daniel.

Hi Mark, if you would like to automatically connect the items (which it sounds like you do) - first you need to create a match automation (type in match in your template center to show your 3 native options). Then you can use the automation @shirozayas suggested. This will only work if you connect to 1 board though. Mirror automations don’t work when trying to connect to multiple boards (last I checked this was still the case). You will need an app @Fantasy-Media-Team suggested for that (guessing and hoping it can do that).
