Using a formula to populate a dropdown menu in a form?

I’m very new to Monday.com and I’m trying to figure out if what I want to do is even possible. I have a spread sheet with the following columns: school name, street address, city, state, zip code. I would like to create a form where educators can input their zip code and a formula will pull all the school names associated with that zip code from the sheet and put them in a dropdown menu so the educators can pick their school out of that list. I’m not sure if that would be a formula in the sheet itself, or an automation, or a combination, and I’m looking for search terms I can use to try to approach this problem. Thank you!

Hey

Nachliel from Easyapps here

Our monday form builder app, Easyform, supports Connected Boards questions, allowing you to show the items of Board B as options in a dropdown question in a Board A form:
Organization connected board Board

There is currently no way to dynamically filter the items of the connected board by entering the associated ZIP code, but you can “hake” a solution. Since the options for a connected board dropdown are searchable, you can add its ZIP code to the name of each school, so when a user enters a ZIP code into the school’s list, it will show only those that contain that zip code.

If you are looking for a more elegant solution, we offer custom-developed features to our customers. Please contact us at support@easyappshq.com or set up a meeting here.

Other features of our connected boards column are

  • Limiting selection to a single item
  • Displaying items from multiple connected boards
  • Limiting select options to items from specific boards where a column is connected to multiple boards
  • Pro plan feature - item default values support - set default values for connected board columns that are hidden in the form.

In addition to that, we offer:

  • Upload files to your board’s file columns, with support for:
    • Allowing only specific file types, such as images or pdf
    • Limiting the number of files that can be uploaded
    • Setting a maximum for file size
    • Manually retrying uploads if some or all of them failed
  • Set default values for the response item’s hidden group, status, connected board, and dropdown columns. To do so, select Item default values from the Settings menu.
  • Add the item’s group as just another field to the form.
  • Control the page’s top margin with the ability to set different values for desktop and mobile. To do so, select Page from the Settings menu.
