Using a single Monday Doc linked to a lead and opportunity

Hi

We are using Monday CRM to track leads and opportunities across separate boards. Qualifying a lead automatically generates a linked opportunity in the opps board.

I am looking at using a Monday Doc to create a deal profile, which contains a whole host of information on that deal built up over the course of the engagement with our prospect. We collect a lot of information from prospects during deals, including a lot of technical information. In principle, the Monday Doc works very well for this.

I am looking at using the Monday Doc column to create a template using dynamic values that populate fields from the relevant item in the board, and then further long-form information is added directly to the document over time. This is all fine as long as I want to use the document within one board.

However, I want to use one document across at least two boards and be able to pull dynamic values from each board as needed. But I don’t want to have to manually adjust those fields everytime I create a new doc for an opportunity.
So I have a document template in the leads board that gets filled in, then, when we qualify that opp, I want to continue using that same document in the opportunities board and keep adding to it, pulling some dynamic values now from the opps board instead of leads. I don’t know how to achieve this, if it’s even possible.

Solutions I’ve looked at:

  • Creating the document in the leads board Monday Doc column then pulling that document from the leads board into opps board via a mirror column. The problem here is that as the doc is still tied to the leads board I cannot link it to opps board to pull dynamic values.
  • Creating a document template via the ‘New Doc’ option on the left-hand pane (i.e. not via the Monday Doc column) and linking to this doc in the item. This has the benefit of being able to pull dynamic values from multiple boards, but the downside is that I have to manually change those fields for every item I want to create a doc for.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

Thanks
Mark
