Hi community, I am excited to share the ability to view parent items of a subitem is now available on the new My work layout! Thank you for all your feedback and helping us bring this feature to life!
Hey @Julietteb can you please share more details on how this work? Is this referring to when you hover over the subitem in My Work, and can see the parent item, or is there a clearer way?
I’ll be frank and to the point. If I were evaluating Monday as a PM tool, this would disqualify it. Project Management isn’t just about reporting which tasks are completed. It’s about the coordination of efforts across [n] departments and [n] teams. Often times the same resource is on [n] teams and [n] projects.
The failure to provide a person with the ability to see what he/she needs to work on across teams and projects demonstrates a failure to understand projects.
The underlying needs of Project Management are “As a PM, I need to know the tasks for this project, their status and the timeline to complete them”, “As a Resource, I need to know what to work on today to meet my various commitments,” and “As Manager of Resources, I need to know what is on my team’s plate to ensure that they are not overcommitted and able to meet their deadlines which I am ultimately responsible for.”
The need to know the Parent Item is core need that should have been considered when My Work was originally designed.
We should not have to vote for this. Someone with Monday should step and simply recognize the need and implement it.
