Walter wagbatsoma: Editable forms for clients

Hi Everyone I am walter wagbatsoma product developer from LA, i was creating forms for my clients and was thinking if its possible to create editable forms? the goal is to not keep sending work forms and hence one editable forms which can be tracked.

Hi Walter! Great question.

Currently, Monday.com forms are designed to collect information from users but are not directly editable once submitted. So, you can create forms to gather client input, but the form itself isn’t “live-editable” like a shared document where the same form updates dynamically for everyone.

However, here are some ways to achieve a similar goal:

  1. Use Monday.com Items and Updates:
  • When a form is submitted, it creates an item on your board.
  • You and your clients can then collaborate on that item using the Updates section where you can add comments, files, and ongoing info.
  • Clients can be invited as guests to your board or specific items to update the information directly.
  1. Share a Board or a Workdoc:
  • Instead of sending multiple forms, you can share a Monday.com Workdoc or a board view with your clients.
  • They can edit it live, and you can track changes and updates in real time.
  1. Integrations or Third-Party Tools:
  • Use external form tools like Typeform or Google Forms that allow editing or saving drafts.
  • Then integrate them with Monday.com via Zapier or Integromat so the data flows into your boards and can be updated.
  1. Automations & Notifications:
  • Set up automations to notify clients when an item needs updates.
  • This way, you don’t have to keep sending new forms; clients get notified to update their info on existing items.

In short, fully editable forms aren’t a native Monday.com feature yet, but you can use boards, updates, shared docs, and automations to create a dynamic and trackable workflow that minimizes back-and-forth forms.

Let me know with a like if this helped or reach back out for more info!

@walterw You can also use SuperForm app, It’s a native monday.com 3rd party addon that allows editing existing items via form.
