A date in an item from a subitem

Hi i have parent items and subitems. In subitems i have actions that took place. Each subitem represents an action that took place for the paren (a service request).
Each action or subitem has an action date. And there are many actions. I would like to have in the parent item the date that the first action took place. So at the moment I have an automation that says when status of the subitem is “done” set date in parent item to today. But that requires that the user updates on realtime the system. Is there a way to update the parent column (first action date) with the specific action date of the subitem.
Thank you!

Are you still looking to set this up? If so, the parent roll up feature could be useful for you!

You can aggregate your column values from the subitem level to the parent item by using the “Show Summary on Parent Item” option.

All you need to do is navigate to the column you’d like to aggregate, click on the down-facing arrow, and choose “Show summary on Parent item”. Once done, you’d see the aggregated value on your parent item. see example:

In my example, I aggregated a number column to show my total costs, but that can apply to status columns, date, timeline, and almost every other column!

Moreover, You can choose if you want to see a sum, count, average, etc. That can be customized by navigating to the down-facing arrow of the summary column > settings:

I hope that helps!

Best,

Dani
