Auto number or populate new subitems first column

We have a board of stores and want a subitem to represent an actual visit to the stores.

However the first column of the subitem is hardcoded to be ‘subitem’ and can’t format it as a date or anything else. We have no real use for this field as it stands but you can’t hide it.

Is there any way, without 3rd parties, to auto increment a value in it, or to rename it or make it a date field?

The marketplace app AutoID Subitems can write auto increment ID’s to the leftmost (name) column whenever a new subitem is created. I realize this is 3rd party, but I don’t expect monday will make this possible in the near future.
