I would like to automate the update via email link to send once an item is created
Hey Luke! It looks like you’re posting for the first time–welcome to the monday Community! Shannon here with the monday team.
To clarify, when a new item is created, you would like an automated email notification to be sent out? Additional context from you would be super helpful to tailor a custom automation for your use case. For example:
- Are you looking to notify users both internally on monday with bell notifications and externally via email?
- Would you like the notification to include the column values for the new item?
Let’s start with this context first and move forward together from there.
Hi
Thanks for your response. I have a form created that colleagues complete. Once completed the form details arrive on board 1. I then have an automation that I approve the content and the data moves to board 2. At this point I have an automation set to send and email to the colleague that their form has been approved. They do not have access to Monday but I would like them to be able to send updates via email but I cannot find a way to link the update URL without manually copy and pasting.
Thanks!
Shannon has there been an update on this one? I think I would like what Luke wants…that is, when an item is created, automatically add the email address for that item to a column in that item.
By way of illustration, what I would like to do is a complaints process: 1. Form submitted by complainant 2. Automatically assign to a person on the basis of topic 3. Email the assigned person, with an email that includes an email address so that 4. The assigned person can respond to the complainant; but cc the Item email address so that then, I can automate a notification to the manager of the complaints process that a response has been given - they can then QA the response and close the complaint.
In the absence of the simplicity of automatically updating the item by cc the response email to the Item, the responder has to 1. respond to the complainant via email; then 2. Update the Monday.com item manually. Alternatively the responder could type their response directly in Monday.com, and then craft an email to be sent from Monday.com, but this does mean choosing appropriate columns to autopopulate the email - which is a bit impersonal and limiting.
Hi ! I think your use case would be a great fit for the Email to Tasks app for monday.com. It lets you automatically turn incoming emails into items (or updates) on your boards, with the sender’s address and subject line pulled in automatically. That way, colleagues can simply reply via email, and their messages become part of your monday workflow - no more copy-pasting. You might want to check this out: here
