I have an automation that sends an email message to recipients who do not have Monday.com accounts. I’m ‘attaching’ a file (one of the board colums) to the message, which comes through as a link. The recipient clicks on the link and it takes them to the Monday.com login screen and there doesn’t appear to be a way for them to view or download the file. It sounds like others are sending similar emails to non-Monday.com folks and they are able to click the link and view the file. What am I missing?
Hey Steve,
If the file in the File Column is from a drive like Google Drive or OneDrive, the file will send as a URL to anyone. Their access to that file will depend on the settings in your drive. If the file in the File Column was uploaded from someone’s computer, the file will also send as a URL to anyone. However, unless the person receiving the email is a member of your monday.com account and logged into the account, they won’t be able to download that file (it will appear as a link, as you’ve noted).
To combat this, we do have our Emails and Activities app which supports file sending, if you’re interested in learning more about this → Emails & Activities on monday.com.
Apologies for any setbacks here Steve!
Hi Bianca. Thanks so much for the info. It helped me fix the issue. I combed the support material pretty thoroughly and either missed it or the material isn’t as thorough as the explanation as you.
Thanks again!
Steve
Hello Bianca,
Just a question, is there a way to use the Emails and Activities app to send out emails with files in automarions?
Because as far as I understand there are no E&A automations that would send out an Email?
Not a problem Steve, very happy to help!
Hey Shayan,
At this stage, I am afraid we do not have automations to send our emails via the E+A app. This is a valuable point that I will share with our team internally
