I’m trying to figure out how to autopopulate a form. My use case is I have 1 form which is a briefing form. When this form is submitted to a board, it is then reviewed manually. If approved, we want more information to appear through a form again (as the person filling it out may not be a monday user). Is it possible that the second form can be auto-populated with the data from the previous item? I am struggling with adding name=“this is some text” to the form’s url as it doesn’t allow spaces.
From my understanding, you’d essentially be looking to update existing items and columns using forms (i.e. edit information previously submitted via the form)? If this is the case, I can confirm that this is currently a feature we are working on rolling out in the near future.
As @BiancaT said that it is an upcoming feature, which is great and looking forward to it. There is an alternative though
You may create 2 different boards with 2 different forms with the relevant values you want to take in.
In the second board, use a connected column from Board 1.
From this setup, you’ll have 2 items, 1 in each board for both forms filled in by 1 person.
All you need to do is to connect form 1 item from Board 1, into the connected column in Board 2.
You may also create mirror columns from Board 1 to reflect fields from Form 1 directly into Board 2.
This way, you’ll have all the information accessible at one place without having to worry about merging them together.
So it can be a connected system. You may repeat the process if you have even more forms, and just use the final board as the main place where you access the information.
I know, not the best solution, but with minimal effort, you’ll get your workflow up and running.
Hope that helps.
Please do let us know what you end up using, so other people can benefit from it as well.
Any idea on timeline for these updates on forms. Some of the requests have been in for over a year. Is the ability to repopulate columns on the list as well as including mirrored columns?
